Second Flight is a charitable organization that provides sanctuary to parrots in need, an adoption program for our happy healthy companion parrots as well as an extensive education program that reaches thousands of people throughout all of Canada.

We are not in any way affiliated with any other organization of this kind.

Sadly, the need for rescue work is increasing. And with that, so is the need for networking with others. It has since become Second Flight's goal to make that happen.

Over the years we have come in contact with individuals and groups throughout our country that are working to make a difference. Their goals are to raise awareness, help birds in need receive the vet care they so desperately may need, find homes that understand the true commitment and understanding that parrots require and last but certainly not lease, to once day see a day where the need for rescue is diminished. We will now be working together to help even more birds on a nation wide basis.

Should we have parrots available for adoption to qualified applicants, we do not post parrots that are available on our website for various reasons but if you are interested in finding out more please visit our apply page.

Our Mission:

To provide shelter for unwanted, neglected, traumatized, and abused parrots. With such purpose as to rehabilitate, attentively care for and ease suffering.

To provide a permanent sanctuary for traumatized, disabled sensitive and difficult companion parrots.

To offer a specified foster scheme and adoption program for those parrots suitable for home placement.

To offer education for those interested in parrots and their care.

Our Sanctuary:

We provide permanent sanctuary to traumatized, disabled sensitive, and difficult companion parrots. Volunteers come in on a regular basis and entertain, care for, and love all the residents. Although they all have their own large cage the parrots seldom spend time in their cages and are always supervised. We also offer a co- op program to College and University students province wide.

The parrots day consists of play time, one on one time, and much more! Toys are donated monthly by the public who come to visit, stores and sponsors.

Food is prepared daily such as fruit, vegetables, cooked meats, pasta, pellets, sprouts, and more!

Our philosophy is that if we can find a permanent loving home for a happy healthy companion parrot we do so allowing the parrot to be number one in a home environment. However if a home can't be found where the parrot will be understood and loved the parrot will become a resident of the sanctuary.
